Bio
Nuno Orlando (1990) is a versatile artist whose practice encompasses painting, sculpture, assemblage, collage and drawing. His work explores our relationship with discarded and everyday materials, focusing on objects at the moment when they lose their original function and move beyond their practical purpose. This shift creates an ambiguous dialogue between humans and their environment, which becomes a central theme in his artistic practice.
By transforming the ordinary into the sublime, Orlando challenges our perception of value, utility and the role of materials within everyday life. His works are characterized by a bold visual language, where color, materiality, texture and tactility are used to alter and reimagine the original state of everyday materials. Orlando’s work invites curiosity and discovery, often concealing details and narratives that only emerge through closer observation.
In an age of acceleration, Orlando asks us to pause. His work is not merely an aesthetic encounter, but a quiet provocation: a call to linger, to question, and to rethink the hidden lives of the things we leave behind.
